ADEFEMI AKINSANYA JOINS CNN, TO HOST NEW AFRICA INC. SERIES

Nigerian journalist Adefemi Akinsanya has joined CNN International from Arise News as the host of a new multiplatform programme, Africa Inc., a business-focused series that will spotlight African companies expanding their global footprint.

CNN announced Akinsanya’s appointment on 5 August 2026, with short segments of the series beginning to air immediately. The full 30-minute programme is scheduled to premiere on 29 August 2026 and will continue through 2027, alongside bi-monthly features and digital content across CNN’s online and social media platforms.

Broadcasting from Lagos, Akinsanya will lead the programme, which is sponsored by Dangote Industries Limited. The series will explore innovation and growth across key sectors, including technology, manufacturing, hospitality and entertainment, with production already underway in several African cities.

Expressing her excitement over the new role, Akinsanya said the appointment comes at a defining moment for Africa’s global story.

“I’m thrilled to be joining CNN to launch Africa Inc. at such an exciting time for Africa’s international story. Across the continent, we’re seeing innovation, resilience, and ambition transforming industries and creating opportunities with global impact. I’m looking forward to bringing these stories to CNN’s audience,” she said.

Before joining CNN, Akinsanya built an impressive international journalism career with Arise News, Al Jazeera, Reuters, Sky News and TRT World. She has reported extensively on major global events, including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Nigeria’s #EndSARS protests and the 2024 United States presidential election. She was also named a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 2023.

CNN International Group Senior Vice President and Global Head of Productions, Ellana Lee, welcomed Akinsanya to the network, expressing confidence in her ability to deliver compelling stories on Africa’s growing influence in the global economy.

The first short segment of Africa Inc. aired on 5 August, while the flagship half-hour programme is expected to make its debut on 29 August 2026.
