CNS PARTICIPATES IN TRANS-REGIONAL SEAPOWER SYMPOSIUM IN VENICE

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has participated in the 15th Trans-Regional Seapower Symposium (T-RSS) held in Venice, Italy, from October 6 to 7, 2026.

The symposium, organised by the Italian Navy, brought together 77 naval delegations from five continents, with more than 800 participants and 21 international speakers, to discuss maritime security and strengthen cooperation among naval forces.

The event, themed “From Regional Waters to Global Influence: Generating Effects Across the Midland Seas of the World,” examined the interconnected nature of maritime security and the need for international collaboration to address emerging threats.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation among navies, protecting strategic maritime routes, promoting information-sharing and developing coordinated responses to security challenges that extend beyond national borders.

The symposium also highlighted the importance of dialogue, mutual trust and strategic partnerships in preventing crises, enhancing maritime security and safeguarding international trade.

The gathering provided a platform for naval leaders and maritime security stakeholders to exchange perspectives on emerging threats and explore collaborative approaches to maintaining stability across the world’s seas.

The event underscored the importance of sustained international cooperation in addressing increasingly complex maritime security challenges
