JUST IN: Eight Zamfara Lawmakers Resign From APC

Eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing worsening insecurity, alleged injustice and non-payment of salaries and allowances.

The lawmakers announced their resignation on Sunday, October 4, 2026, saying they could no longer remain in a party they accused of failing to adequately address the security challenges affecting residents of the state.

The lawmakers are Aliyu Kagara, Ibrahim Bakura, Faruk Dosara, Bashir Masama, Muktaru Kaura, Nasiru Abdullahi, Bashar Bello and Bashar Aliyu.

Kagara, who represents Talata Mafara South Constituency, alleged that the lawmakers had gone 32 months without receiving salaries, allowances and other entitlements.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara APC Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji, said the party had not received official copies of the lawmakers’ resignation letters, noting that it had only seen the letters on social media.

The lawmakers were reportedly suspended by the APC before their resignation over allegations that they attempted to impeach the Speaker of the state House of Assembly.
