JUST IN: Tinubu to Perform Umrah During Thursday’s Saudi Arabia Visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday, October 29, for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah, an Islamic pilgrimage, and pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity and stability.

The planned trip was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

According to the Presidency, the visit will provide Tinubu with an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion while seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.

“While in Makkah, President Tinubu will perform the religious rites associated with Umrah, seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people,” the statement said.

Before departing Abuja, the President is expected to commission equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force to support its operations.

The commissioning ceremony will take place at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Presidency said Tinubu’s pilgrimage would focus on prayers for the country’s continued progress, peace, unity and stability.

The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the spiritual exercise. However, the Presidency did not announce a specific date for his return.

Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be undertaken at any time of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place during a designated period in the Islamic calendar.

The announcement comes as the Federal Government continues to address the country’s security and economic challenges.
