Ugo Ugochukwu has just made history in Formula 3. He is an American-born driver of Nigerian heritage, and he became the first American to win the FIA Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship after finishing second in the final race in Madrid on September 13, 2026.
American-born racing driver of Nigerian heritage, Ugo Ugochukwu, has been crowned the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Champion, making history as the first American driver to win the championship.
The 19-year-old secured the title after finishing second in the final race of the season at the Madring circuit in Madrid, Spain, driving for Campos Racing.

Ugochukwu overcame British title rival Freddie Slater, who finished eighth in the final race, to claim the championship by 14 points.
His victory also marks a major milestone for Campos Racing, which secured its first-ever F3 drivers’ championship.
