Tinubu to Begin 2027 Re-Election Campaign in Kaduna on October 24

President Bola Tinubu is expected to begin his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24, according to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

Yari disclosed this on Friday while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He said discussions focused on preparations for the campaign and arrangements for the President’s proposed visits to states ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to the former Zamfara State governor, the campaign council has developed a timetable for the visits, which has received the President’s approval.

“The President asked me to come and brief him on where we are and to discuss the timetable for the state visits. By God’s grace, his team, Mr President and I have agreed on how it is going to be done,” Yari said.

He announced that the campaign council’s inaugural meeting would take place on October 14 at the State House Banquet Hall.

Yari said Kaduna would host the first campaign activity, followed by Port Harcourt and Maiduguri. He added that the full schedule and other details would be made public after the council’s inauguration.

The APC campaign director-general also spoke about the political challenges ahead, arguing that presidential candidates would need substantial support across both northern and southern Nigeria to compete nationally.

He challenged opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, to demonstrate their level of support across the country.

Yari questioned the strength of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in southern Nigeria, arguing that regional support alone would not be sufficient to secure victory in a presidential election.

He cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s previous electoral experiences to support his argument that candidates needed backing beyond their strongest political regions.

The APC chieftain further defended Tinubu’s economic policies, claiming that the administration’s measures had begun to change the country’s economic situation.

He expressed confidence in the President’s support across the country as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.

Further details of the campaign programme are expected following the campaign council’s inaugural meeting on October 14.
