CNS Unveils SSV-KALI 3 to Boost Maritime Security

The Nigerian Navy has unveiled the locally built SSV-KALI 3 security support vessel in Delta State to strengthen maritime defence and protect critical energy assets.

Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, inducted the vessel as the first of 10 vessels under a partnership between the Nigerian Navy and Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO).

Built in Delta State, the vessel will support maritime surveillance and operations against crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and other maritime crimes across Nigeria’s waterways.

Vice Admiral Abbas said the partnership between the Navy and private sector would enhance the protection of energy infrastructure, promote economic security and support the growth of the Blue Economy.

He said the commissioning of KALI 3 would also complement the Navy’s intensified operations under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, aimed at securing the Niger Delta and its maritime approaches.

The CNS noted that improved maritime security would create a safer environment for oil and gas activities, protect national assets and contribute to increased crude oil production
