Eniola Badmus apologises to Laide Bakare, calls for peace

Actress Eniola Badmus has publicly apologised to her colleague Laide Bakare for her reaction to Bakare’s name during a recent podcast interview, calling for an end to their feud.

Badmus shared the apology in a statement on her Instagram page on Tuesday, admitting her conduct on Isbae U’s ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast may have come across as dismissive.

“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.

Speaking directly to Bakare, she added, “Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace, and I genuinely wish you well.”

Badmus also noted that she has grown and matured, stressing the importance of letting go of past disagreements.

“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she said.

She ended her message with a plea for reconciliation, stating, “Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reign.”

Her apology comes after a clip from the podcast went viral, showing Badmus making a facial expression when the host mentioned Bakare as one of his favourite actresses, a reaction that sparked widespread criticism online.

Reacting to the apology, the show’s host Isbae U wrote, “Let love lead. Na my interview go fix Nigeria in whole. I love you both so much. You both should give me a kiss.”
