The Nigerian Navy on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, commissioned a Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project at LGEA Primary School, Allor, Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The project, executed in honour of Rear Admiral SA Yahaya, comprised 02 renovated classroom blocks, provision of a newly constructed toilet facility, a playground and sporting equipment . It is aimed at bridging educational challenges and enhancing the learning environment for pupils of the school and the host community.
The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I Abbas, was represented by the Commander, Command Naval Drafting, Rear Admiral C U Yahaya. In his goodwill message, the CNS stated that the Quick Impact Project is a Nigerian Navy Civil-Military Cooperation initiative conceived to contribute to the development of selected communities in order to enhance overall national security and development. He noted that the initiative reflects the Navy’s commitment to giving back to host communities and honouring distinguished senior officers, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his welcome address, the project honouree, Rear Admiral SA Yahaya, expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of the Naval Staff for his visionary leadership. He described the intervention as a “stop gap measure to bridge the challenges of having improved quality education in our communities.”
Rear Admiral Yahaya added that the support from the school staff and community was very encouraging and saw to the timely execution of the project. He disclosed that the expectation had been so high that there has been an increased registration of pupils in the school.

He charged members of the community to take ownership of the facilities: “The burden of care and safeguarding of the facilities rest squarely with you. You must take ownership and look after the school. It will be disheartening to have this facility go into disrepair as adequate maintenance and security ensures sustainability.”He urged the people of Ankpa to ensure the project serves its purpose for generations to come.
The Special Guest of Honour, the Ankpa Local Government Executive Chairman, Engr Ademu Muhammed Yahaya represented by the Vice Chairperson, Hon Halima Imam, commissioned the projects. She commended the Chief of the Naval Staff for the intervention and described it as a timely contribution to education and youth development in Ankpa.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Regina Jibrin thanked the Nigerian Navy for the timely initiative and intervention after an earlier presentation of national anthem by some pupils of the school.
In attendance were the Commander NNS LUGARD, Commodore AO Ojo, the Royal Father, the Ejeh of Ankpa, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu II, represented by the Onu Ankpa, Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar, media representatives and well-meaning indigenes of Ankpa.
The commissioning of these facilities underscores the Nigerian Navy’s resolve to foster civil-military relations and contribute to socio-economic development in host communities, in addition to its constitutional mandate of securing the nation. The project marks a significant milestone in the relationship between the Nigerian Navy and the good people of Ankpa.
