A 37-year-old Nigerian woman, Saratu Jibo, who was declared missing by her family after arriving in Doha, Qatar, has been found safe in a hospital.
Jibo travelled from Lagos to Doha aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408 but became unreachable after arriving in the country. Her family had raised the alarm after she failed to contact them and could not be located by the person assigned to pick her up from the airport.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, said she was travelling to Qatar for the first time to begin a new job and had no friends in the country who could immediately assist in locating her.
The Nigerian Embassy in Qatar, Qatar Airways and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) were among those involved in efforts to trace her whereabouts.
Earlier checks confirmed that Jibo arrived in Doha, collected her luggage and exited the airport.
However, in an update on Sunday, September 6, her brother confirmed that she had been found. He explained that she became ill after arriving in Qatar and was taken from the airport to a hospital, where she was eventually located.
Jibo thanked the Nigerian Embassy in Doha, Qatar Airways, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, as well as Nigerians and other social media users who helped amplify the search.
