President Bola Tinubu’s administration has completed 221 kilometres of the 317 kilometres of roads awarded in the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since it assumed office in May 2023.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, made the disclosure on Friday in Abuja, during the inauguration of the reconstructed 4.2-kilometre dual carriageway Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.
Wike said the completed roads were done by the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) of the FCT Administration and work on the remaining 96 kilometres was going on steadily.
He told the residents that the Apo – Karshi Road and the Nyanya – Kurudu Road would be completed before the end of the year.
The Minister said during the period, the Tinubu administration also inaugurated 53 projects executed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in the city centre.
He noted that the figure did not include some intervention projects that were finished but not formally inaugurated.
“This has never happened in the history of the administration of this country, that a president inaugurated 31 projects in 28 days.
“If anyone feels differently, let them challenge us in the next 24 hours. “If what we have said is wrong, I will resign as FCT Minister.
This is what we call “Operation Show Your Report Card.” “President Tinubu can beat his chest with his achievement in the satellite towns and the city centre,” Wike said.
“The Arab/Gbazango Road has been in a deplorable condition for years, hampering economic activities and causing hardship on the part of residents,” said the minister.
“The reconstruction of the road has changed the face of the area, and it is a practical example of good governance,” he said.
In response to the cries of the residents, Wike ordered the Acting Executive Secretary, FCDA, Richard Dauda to provide potable water to the communities along the road corridor.
He said that after commissioning 31 projects in 28 days, the administration would take a short break and then restart commissioning projects later in the year.
President Tinubu who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said residents of Kubwa and neighbouring communities had suffered years of difficult commuting owing to the deplorable state of the road, speaking at the event.
He said potholes and persistent flooding had hampered economic activities, disrupted businesses and caused untold hardship to commuters.
The President said the reconstructed road has transformed a major transport corridor into a highway for economic development and improved connectivity.
He praised Wike for his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly impact the lives of the residents for the better.
“Minister Wike, you have again shown that when government is run with vision and integrity, the works are seen and felt. “I thank you,” Tinubu said.
“The road now provides safer access to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) and surrounding communities, so that businesses can thrive, farmers can move produce more efficiently and emergency services can respond more quickly,” Mr Palaszczuk said.
Also speaking was the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, who commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and firm dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She congratulated the residents of Kubwa and the entire FCT and expressed the confidence that the completed projects would remain lasting symbols of purposeful leadership and sustainable development.
Earlier, the Satellite Towns Development Department coordinator, Zulkiflu Abdulkadir, said the 4.2-kilometre dual carriageway was awarded in November 2025 to improve mobility within the Kubwa satellite town.
“The road runs from the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) through the busy Liberty Junction in the Gbazango area and was completed on schedule to the required standard including the installation of streetlights,” he said.
The project was described as transformational by the chairman of the Arab Road Residents Association, Nnamdi Ezeabasirim, speaking on behalf of the residents.
“This road is more than asphalt to us, it represents dignity, opportunity and safety,” he said, pledging the community’s continued support to the administration.
The reconstructed road is expected to reduce traffic congestion, improve access to the surrounding communities and increase economic activities in Kubwa and its environs in line with the Federal Government’s resolve to widen infrastructure and improve the quality of life of the residents.
