Abuja – Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu has decorated 30 newly promoted senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, charging them to uphold professionalism, integrity and accountable leadership in the discharge of their duties.
The promotion ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in the Force Headquarters, Abuja, saw 13 officers elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and 17 officers promoted to Commissioner of Police (CP).
The Nigeria Police Force said the promotions were in recognition of the officers’ dedication, commitment and years of meritorious service.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, IGP Disu described their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them through exemplary leadership and service to the nation.
He emphasised the need for the officers to lead with integrity, fairness and compassion while ensuring the welfare of personnel under their command.
The police chief also encouraged the senior officers to strengthen public confidence in the Force by demonstrating professionalism, respecting the rule of law and mentoring younger officers to uphold the highest standards of policing.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by police personnel and their families, Disu commended the unwavering support of the officers’ loved ones, noting that policing often requires personal and family sacrifices in the service of the nation.
The event was attended by senior government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to enhancing the welfare, professional development and operational readiness of its personnel as part of ongoing efforts to improve internal security and build a more efficient, accountable and citizen-focused police service.
