The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a 50,000-litre Braithwaite water storage tank, a solar-powered industrial borehole and a renovated community town hall in Adiabo Akani Obio, Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The projects were executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme in honour of the Chief of Operations, Rear Admiral Patrick Effah, who hails from the community.
Speaking at the commissioning, Rear Admiral Effah said the water project was inspired by his childhood experience, particularly the hardship faced by women and children who trekked down a hill to fetch water from a stream.
He said the intervention would provide clean water, improve public hygiene and reduce the burden of collecting water.
Effah also said he renovated and completed the community town hall after discovering that it had been abandoned and had deteriorated.

The facilities are expected to improve access to potable water, provide a venue for community activities and strengthen relations between the Nigerian Navy and the people of Adiabo Akani Obio
